Rare T206 Plank and ‘Magie’ Error Cards Headline PWCC December Premier Auction

In the exciting world of sports memorabilia, few items hold as much allure and fascination as rare baseball cards. The PWCC December Premier Auction is certainly no exception, with two of the most coveted cards from the iconic T206 set, known as the Big Four, stealing the spotlight and capturing the attention of collectors worldwide.

One of the standout items in this auction is an SGC 1 graded T206 Eddie Plank card. An astonishingly low total of only 39 Plank cards have received a grading from SGC, with an additional 21 graded by PSA. Despite the signs of age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and damage to the corners and edges, the value and rarity of the Plank card remain undisputed. The appearance of this card at auction is a noteworthy event, as it marks the fourth time this year that a Plank card has been made available for purchase. Previous sales include an SGC 1 Plank card that fetched an impressive $75,000 last February, as well as a PSA 2.5 variant that commanded a staggering $168,000 in August.

Joining the illustrious Plank card is the PSA 2 graded Sherry “Magie” error card, another highly prestigious item from the T206 set. This particular card features a misspelling of Sherry Magee’s last name, and is widely recognized as one of the most sought-after rarities in the entire collection. The Magie error card stands shoulder to shoulder with the T206 Honus Wagner and the “NY Nat’l” Joe Doyle cards in terms of both rarity and historical significance.

In addition to these iconic gems, the auction also showcases an impressive array of Michael Jordan cards, a testament to the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. The Jordan collection in this auction is sure to captivate fans and collectors alike. Some notable highlights include the rare 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals card, graded BGS 9 and limited to just 50 copies in existence, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies card, graded PSA 8 and also limited to 50 copies, and the highly sought-after 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future card, graded PSA 9 and limited to just 72 copies. Furthermore, the auction features the 1984-85 Star Company XRC card, graded in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades, further enhancing the allure and collectability of the Jordan collection.

Not to be overlooked, the auction also includes modern hockey treasures, particularly the 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid RPA, limited to only 12 copies and graded by BGS 8, as well as the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby RPA, limited to 99 copies and also graded by BGS 8. These cards represent the excitement and talent displayed by two of the biggest names in the sport.

The PWCC December Premier Auction, already underway, provides collectors with a rare opportunity to own a piece of sports history. Bidding will continue until December 21st, giving enthusiasts ample time to participate and acquire some of the most sought-after items in the world of sports memorabilia.
