Sports Card Releases: Score Big in May 2024

The chatter on the bleachers can only mean one thing – the sports card markets are about to explode! The first fortnight of May 2024 brings an avalanche of releases. We’re teeing off with releases featuring baseball, basketball, golf, and racing. Get ready for a detailed rundown of what’s sliding out of the dugout.

Our journey begins on May 1st with the 2024 Topps Heritage Mini Baseball. Calling back to the elusive 1975 mini set, this web-only release sports a 500-card base set. For the Hobbyists, 24 packs make up each box, with nine cards ready to hit it out of the park. Keep your eyes peeled for an autograph, a relic, and the cherry-on-top – a box loader. Major League player Juan Soto will make his debut on Yankees’ cards to keep things interesting.

Hockey fans can expect a rush with the 2022-23 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Hockey. Four cards are tucked away in a single pack, loaded with an autograph, a high-quality memento (or autographed memento), an additional memorabilia card, and a base or rookie card.

The sport doesn’t really matter when you have the 2023-24 Panini Recon Basketball, promising a flood of rookie cards featuring Victor Wembanyama. Only ten packs per hobby box, each with six cards including two autographs and 20 inserts.

May 8th ensures your sports card fever doesn’t cool off with 2024 Bowman Baseball. Since its rebirth in 1989, this brand has established a strong foothold across several sports. The latest edition cradles a Chrome autographed card in Hobby boxes and three autographs in Jumbo boxes, to whet your collecting appetite. Unwrap green parallels exclusively available in retail boxes.

But there’s more! The courtside action is boiling with the 2023-24 Panini Crown Royale Basketball. Each box is geared with eight cards, dedicating space to one autograph, one memorabilia, and two inserts or parallels. And that’s not all – the Tim Duncan autographs are the main highlight and estimated at around $500 per box.

Still not enough sports for you? Check out the 2024 Upper Deck SP Game Used Golf and 2023 Panini National Treasures Racing on the same day. These high-stakes collections answer the call of golf and racing aficionados.

May 10 jumpstarts with a burst of excitement from 2023-24 Panini Select Basketball. It’s a beloved addition to Panini’s range and comes in boxes filled with twelve packs, each holding five cards. Expect to pull out three autographs or memorabilia cards per pack. Add to this Prizm parallels and rookie memorabilia-laden cards, and it’s a sure slam dunk. Soccer fans hold on tight, details regrading the 2023/24 Donruss Soccer, another exciting release, are imminent.

In the coming weeks, all collectors have their gloves full with the diversity and features of these releases. Regardless of your game – traditional sports like baseball and basketball or offbeat picks like golf, racing – May has something for everyone.
