Top Sports Card Sales for Dodgers and Yankees Stars

Over the past few years, the sports card market has witnessed a surge in high-value transactions, with numerous cards fetching prices upwards of a million dollars. However, one notable absence from the million-dollar club is the talented Shohei Ohtani, whose highest sale lingers below $400,000 despite his remarkable on-field performance and vast fanbase.

As the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees gear up to battle it out in the World Series, Topps recently unveiled a graphic showcasing some of the most expensive trading cards for key players in the championship series. Leading the pack is none other than Jasson Dominguez, with his 1/1 Bowman Superfractor Autographed card commanding an impressive $474,000 price tag. The dynamic Aaron Judge follows closely behind with his card valued at $324,000, with Juan Soto and Anthony Volpe also making their mark at $300,000 and $150,000, respectively. Even the seasoned Mookie Betts manages to secure a spot on the list with a card worth $123,000.

The Yankees’ players prominently feature at the top of the chart, with Jasson Dominguez stealing the spotlight due to his exclusive 1/1 Bowman Superfractor Autograph, setting a new record with its staggering $474,000 sale. Meanwhile, Anthony Volpe’s limited edition red Bowman Chrome autograph, restricted to just five copies, fetched an impressive $150,000 for a PSA 10 version, solidifying his position as another valuable asset in the Yankees’ lineup.

Juan Soto’s 1/1 Bowman Superfractor Autograph holds an intriguing backstory, as rumors suggest that the autograph underwent alterations and was subsequently regraded. Sources speculate that PSA may have repurchased the card, leading to its unavailability in the current market.

Earlier this year, Fanatics and Sotheby’s joined forces to conduct an auction featuring a selection of the industry’s top trading cards, including several showcased in Topps’ released graphic. However, recent data sourced from eBay and CardLadder indicates a potential discrepancy in Topps’ reported figures for Shohei Ohtani’s card. A 2018 Topps Definitive Gold Framed Shohei Ohtani Rookie Auto BGS 9.5, numbered 13/30, reportedly sold for a substantial $350,000 on October 15. This sale suggests that Ohtani’s highest-valued card may be inching closer to the half-million-dollar mark than initially believed.

In a market where each card holds its unique storyline and value, the World Series presents an exciting backdrop for collectors and enthusiasts to witness the soaring prices and coveted status of trading cards for top Dodgers and Yankees stars. From record-breaking sales to historical autograph alterations, the trading card market continues to captivate audiences with its blend of sportsmanship and investment allure.
