2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball Returns

The 2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball set is back, reviving a beloved brand that has been absent since 2009. Despite not having the official NBA license, this release captures the essence of the sport with a mix of current stars, promising rookies, and legendary players, all licensed by the NBA Players Association.

This set boasts nearly 30 different Refractor variations, offering collectors a diverse range of visually appealing cards. Unique options like Geometric versions and basketball background parallels add an extra layer of excitement for collectors. Autograph enthusiasts will be delighted by the inclusion of Topps Chrome Autographs, Certified Rookie Autographs, and retail-exclusive Certified Autographs, including sought-after on-card signatures from rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, who signed an exclusive deal with Fanatics.

Notable appearances in this set include LeBron James, with only his second autograph appearance since joining Fanatics. Additionally, NBA legends like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Shaquille O’Neal contribute to the set’s nostalgia and prestige.

Collectors can look forward to vibrant inserts like Coast to Coast, Destiny, Finesse, Season’s Best, and Youthquake in each hobby pack. Short Print (SSP) inserts such as Exposé, Superfly, Let’s Go!, Helix, and more add excitement and rarity to the collection, with nods to classic Topps inserts from previous decades.

The 2023-24 release features 190 cards in the set, and each hobby box contains 8 cards per pack and 12 packs per box, with two autographs guaranteed in each box. The official release date is scheduled for August 28, 2024, with collectors eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get their hands on this highly anticipated product.

Pre-sales for the set have already sold out, indicating the strong demand and enthusiasm among collectors. Topps is strategically leveraging the popularity of rookie standout Victor Wembanyama to reintroduce the Chrome Basketball brand, setting the stage for its return to the basketball card market. As Topps gears up to reclaim the full NBA license in 2025, the 2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball set serves as a significant milestone in the brand’s journey back to the forefront of the collecting world.
