SCP’s Spring Premier Auction Highlights George Mikan Suit and Vintage Cards

SCP Auctions is gearing up to host its much-anticipated Spring Premier event, offering collectors a plethora of iconic sports memorabilia and high-grade vintage cards. One of the standout pieces is the only known George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers warm-up suit, a truly rare find signed by the basketball legend himself. This historical gem, complete with a jacket and pants bearing Mikan’s signature, is expected to command a price tag of over $400,000. Authenticated by Sports Investors Authentication, this piece from the NBA’s early days is a must-have for any serious collector.

Known for his transformative impact on basketball, George Mikan’s memorabilia, especially game-worn items, are highly sought after. The auction also features an array of prime vintage baseball cards, including a PSA 7 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookie card, not one but two 1952 Topps Mantles, a 1963 Topps Mantle graded SGC 9, and a rare 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig graded SGC 9, with the Gehrig card poised to surpass $150,000 in value.

For fans of Pete Rose memorabilia, the auction boasts the second-ranked master set of his cards, following SCP’s recent sale of the top-ranked set last autumn. Collectors can also set their sights on significant Shohei Ohtani cards and memorabilia, such as Ohtani’s jersey worn on Jackie Robinson Day in 2023, anticipated to attract bids in the six-figure range, and his 200th career home run ball.

Adding to the excitement are two pairs of Michael Jordan game-worn shoes, a Roberto Clemente cap, a Ronald Acuna Jr. photo-matched jersey, and a signed jersey from Tua Tagovailoa’s 2023 collection. The auction will also feature exquisite jewelry pieces like a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP award, Olympic gold medals belonging to Jim Hines and Oleksandr Abramenko, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series ring, and a 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA championship ring.

Among the many standout lots are Kobe Bryant game-worn and signed shoes, a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP trophy, a game-used bat from Ted Williams, a 2023 Bowman Chrome Draft Tom Brady Orange Refractor autograph, a 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card, a multi-signed baseball featuring early Hall of Fame inductees and Yankee legends, as well as historical sports memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century.

With a collection of over 400 lots, the auction is set to open on Wednesday and run until Saturday, April 13, providing enthusiasts ample opportunity to bid on their coveted items through SCPAuctions.com. This Spring Premier event promises to be a treasure trove for sports memorabilia aficionados, offering a unique opportunity to own a piece of sporting history.
